The Brief

Specialising in live events and media content, Barker Brooks origins can be traced back to 1998. Their key markets are the legal, financial, educational and medical sectors.

When Barker Brooks approached us, their new WordPress-based website had been in development for over a year, and they required a solution to prevent the loss of traffic from search engines, once the new site went live. With advertising being the primary source of revenue from their website, it was essential that there was no drop in traffic.

Our Solution

There were a number of elements which we had to consider with this migration. This wasn’t a case of simply implementing redirects and leaving it to its own devices.

Instead, we undertook a number of additional tasks including the analysis of the website’s path to conversion, making recommendations around changes which needed to be made. We also recommended a more robust web hosting system to better manage the level of traffic the site was receiving.In addition to this, the previous CMS of the website was built in Ruby on Rails and had a very complex URL structure, and this also needed addressing.

Once the changes were made, we applied 301 redirects to the web server to remap the old website into the new one.
